PARTNERSHIP WITH 44.MOLES.

How Technology Ensures CO2 Removal and Storage in Our Projects: Partnership with 44.moles.

44.moles is our partner for forest restoration and biodiversity. Through the provision of carbon credits, 44.moles guarantees the removal of carbon dioxide emissions and enables its partners to actively contribute to forest conservation. We have selected three 44.moles projects to contribute to:

  1. Waterboro: Home to one of the largest pine forests in Maine, USA. Given the threat of deforestation, this project aims to reforest critical biomass and protect biodiversity.
  2. Roxbury: A sparsely populated town in southern Maine, USA. The project provides a break from industrial activities like sawmills or shoe factories and promotes a balance between economic development and environmental protection.
  3. Beech Hill: Located in the picturesque community of Hillsborough in Greater New Brunswick, Canada, the project not only protects the natural environment but also benefits from its strategic location in a developing economic landscape.

Why is it effective and precise? With the help of modern LiDAR lasers – an advanced scanning technology – 44.moles is able to scan project areas within the forests. Based on the digital twins of the forest generated by the laser, the structural complexity is quantified and compared with the potential complexity of the forests. The former assesses the distribution of mass in 3D space. This is a widely used, holistic parameter, as it correlates with biodiversity, adaptability, and resilience to droughts and other disturbances.

In the final step, a BLOC is created. BLOC stands for Biodynamic Long-term Offset Credit. It corresponds to one ton of CO2 from a sustainably managed forest project. This unit links accurate indicators for carbon sequestration with long-term nature conservation and biodiversity.

Impact in Numbers By laying out the meticulous methodology behind 44.moles’ projects and how they use technology to achieve impactful results, we now turn our attention to the concrete outcomes of our investment. Through the purchase of 10,000 credits from the mentioned initiatives, we directly contribute to CO2 reduction, biodiversity enhancement, and the promotion of the common good.

Here is an overview of the impacts we are achieving:

  • Climate: Our investment has enabled the removal of 10,000 tons of CO2 from sustainably managed forests. 44.moles commits to preserving the removed tons within the project perimeter for the next 99 years.
  • Nature: With our support, the average biodiversity value is increased, and wildlife and tree habitats are expanded.
  • Society: The landscape conditions for local communities are improved, fostering sustainable forestry, enhanced livelihoods, better environmental conditions, and economic growth.
