Alessandra Keller secured an uncontested victory in the ÖKK Bike Revolution race in Gruyère despite the changing conditions. With this win, she also claimed the overall series title early, marking her third consecutive year as the winner. Mathias Flückiger triumphed in the men's race with a significant lead, while Lars Forster finished a solid fourth.
In the women's race, Alessandra Keller started as the clear favorite for the day’s victory. She quickly pulled away from her competitors in the first lap and established a clear lead right from the start. The only moment of tension occurred when Keller was briefly captured by the cameras in the Tech Zone while standing. However, the victory was never in doubt, and she secured the overall title of the ÖKK Bike Revolution 2024 with one race still to go—marking her third consecutive win in the series. Ramona Forchini finished second, while Nicole Koller completed the podium in third.
Keller Claims Overall Title for the Third Consecutive Year
In the men's race, experienced team riders Forster and Flückiger took their places at the start. As with the women's race, the field remained together for only a short time. The now wet conditions made the challenging course around the medieval town of Gruyère very selective. Mathias Flückiger broke away with Azzaro, the French World Championship fifth-place finisher. He dropped Azzaro in the third-to-last lap with a strong surge and cruised to a well-deserved victory. Azzaro (F) and Marcel Guerrini finished second and third, respectively, while Lars Forster secured a solid fourth-place finish.
Flückiger Strong, Forster Solid
Team manager Ralph Näf commented after the race: "It was a successful weekend for us. With Alessandra, we made a planned stop and switched to the Schwalbe Racing Ray tire with the soft rubber compound. It was important for us that she could stay safe with the changing course conditions. I’m also very happy for Mathias because a win against this competition, just two weeks after his appendectomy, was unexpected." He also praised Forster for showing a strong race and added, "Next week is the final race of the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Huttwil. The team will take this opportunity to fine-tune before the final World Cup races overseas."
Vital Albin and Luke Wiedmann were absent due to illness.
